Sound Insulation

The transmission of noise to other rooms, which can be caused by walking or dropped items, is called impact sound transmission. This causes the structure to vibrate and produce sound waves on both sides of the surface impacted. These construction components transmit the structure borne noise as airborne noise. The impact sound reduction of 13 dB achieved by Schlüter®-DITRA-SOUND, therefore, means that the impact sound perception is cut by more than half!

Schlüter®-DITRA-SOUND is a heavy mat made of polyethylene with an anchoring fleece laminated on both sides. Schlüter®-DITRA-SOUND serves as a sound insulation in tiled floor assemblies and bridges existing cracks in damaged substrates.
