Permanently maintenance-free and hygienic movement joints

Movement joints must be installed at the perimeters of tiled coverings to equalize deformation.

These joints are conventionally sealed with silicone compounds. They are also referred to as maintenance joints,  which means that the joint compound tears in regular intervals and must be replaced (= maintenance).  This also applies to the connections of shower trays and bath tubs.

The challenge is to prevent tearing and fungal and mold development in silicone joints.

In addition to torn joints, rooms with high moisture exposure commonly show mold growth on the silicone.

The solution: Movement joint profiles from Schlüter-Systems

With our Schlüter®-DILEX profiles, you can create movement joints that are permanently maintenance-free compared to silicone joints. They are installed together with the tiles and are a fixed part of the tile covering. No subsequent work steps are necessary. DILEX profiles are easy to clean and resistant to fungi and bacteria. This assures that fungi and bacteria cannot even begin to grow.

In addition, there is no costly removal and replacement of torn or moldy silicone joints.

We recommend Schlüter®-DILEX-EK and -DILEX-RF for joints in the floor-wall transition area. These two-piece profiles feature a tongue-and-groove connection and can absorb vertical movements of up to 8 mm. They effortlessly absorb the edge contraction of screed structures. The single-piece corner profiles Schlüter®-DILEX-EKE and -DILEX-EF are particularly suitable for the quick and neat installation in inside wall corners and create an especially narrow joint.

The profile Schlüter®-DILEX-AS was developed for the flexible connection of tile coverings to tubs and shower trays. It forms a harmonically curved transition from the covering to the installation feature, effectively prevents sound bridges, and reduces the transmission of impact sound.

Schlüter®-DILEX-AS is a joining profile for creating flexible joints to fixtures such as shower trays, baths, door and window frames.
