The Quick Way To Create A Ceramic Thermal-Comfort Floor
Schlüter-BEKOTEC-EN/23 F
Bologna - Schlüter-Systems first presented its innovative bonded assembly Schlüter-BEKOTEC in 1997. When the manufacturer introduced the complete ceramic thermal-comfort floor system, Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM in 2003, it created a small revolution for heated floor technology. The product of the Iserlohn-based company demonstrated to the entire industry that modern floor assemblies not only save money and resources, but can also create permanently damage-free heated screeds. The new Schlüter-BEKOTEC-EN/23 F, is the "little brother" of this product, which has proven its worth in the market and in many practical applications.

At the core of the sophisticated system solution, introduced in 2003, is the studded polystyrene screed panel Schlüter-BEKOTEC, which can be installed, together with the screed, at a thickness of just 52 mm (before installation of tiles or ceramic covering). This makes the ceramic thermal-comfort floor ideal for restoration projects.
Nevertheless, it still was too difficult in some construction projects to install a floor assembly, in spite of the low construction height, since the existing old floor covering had to be completely removed.
To solve this problem, Schlüter-Systems has gone the proverbial "extra mile" to introduce Schlüter-BEKOTEC-EN/23 F, a ceramic thermal-comfort floor that allows for subsequent installation. The panel and screed only have an installation height of 31 mm (before installation of tiles and natural stone pavers).
The special feature of the product: The company has maintained the tension-preventing structure of the proven studded screed panel system, but has reduced the height by approximately 20 mm with the use of a highly impact-resistant deep-drawing foil.
Thanks to this material, the BEKOTEC-EN/23 F panels can be directly installed over existing substrates. The panels are not anchored in a bed of adhesive, making the entire ceramic thermal-comfort floor a floating construction. The weight of the installed screed is sufficient to keep the construction securely in place.
The panels with the dimensions 120 x 90 cm are sold in boxes of 10 units, and the material can easily be cut to the required size, using a sharp serrated knife or an angle grinder. The individual panels are latched together by overlapping one row of studs. The lower stud is permanently interlinked with the upper stud when slight pressure is applied. As a consequence, the construction is also suitable for poured screeds.
The remaining construction of the thermal ceramic-comfort floor does not differ from the proven Schlüter-BEKOTEC system. The heating pipes are pressed into the stud pattern at regular spaces of 75 mm. The screed covers the studs by at least 8 mm, which results in a total construction height of 31 mm. Of course, the system can be connected to any existing heating mechanism. However, heating systems that use regenerative sources of energy are sufficient for optimal operation due to the low supply temperature.
Even without a heating element, the new deep-drawing foil plate can offer all the advantages of the BEKOTEC technology. This, the studs create a screed panel without inner tensions, which completely prevents damage in the form of surface cracks as the consequence of buckling or contraction. This allows for timesaving renovations to quickly and effectively create high-value floors with ceramic or natural stone coverings, especially in representative facilities, such as offices and sales rooms.
